CV Eagles Season Ends with Close Loss in the CPSLA Final
by J. Rucinsky posted 05/31/2008

Congratulations to the Cumberland Valley Varsity Boys lacrosse team on a tremendous '2008' season.  The families, friends and fans of the CV lacrosse program would like to thank all of the players, coaches, team managers, booster organizers, great fans and all of the 'behind the scenes' people who helped to make this such a great season.

In last night's game, the Eagles came up 1 goal short in OT to Manheim Twp. Both teams played very well in an exciting, hard-fought game. Twp. scored a goal late in the 1st period to take a 2-1 lead, and very late in the 4th to send the game into OT. In their final game as CV Eagles, senior Alex Montemayor led the scoring with 2 goals.  Also scoring were seniors Billy Beutler, Dustin Breakey and Colin Gardner.  Dustin Breakey's goal was his 50th of the season to lead the team in scoring.

Once again, congratulations to everyone on the CV varsity boys lacrosse team for all of your efforts. Best wishes and good luck to all of the seniors in all of your future endeavours.
In closing I'd just like to use a quote which is appropriate at this time,

"Thanks for the memories!"

Final score:
Cumberland Valley Eagles   5
Manheim Twp 6

CV Advances to CPSLA Finals
posted 05/28/2008

After defeating Warwick 10 - 8 this evening, the Cumberland Valley Eagles have advanced to the CPSLA Final Game on Friday, May 30th. They will face-off against Manheim Township at Millersville University's Beimesderfer Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Please see the game synopsis below, courtesy of Joe Rucinsky:

Tonight the game between the Cumberland Valley Eagles and the Warwick Warriors was the second time these teams have met this year.  Warwick won the initial meeting but the Mid-Penn Champion team from Cumberland Valley High School came out on top in tonight's playoff game.  Both teams played well but the visiting Warriors could not stop the inspired Eagles offense.  The CV defense, led by all-star goalie Tim Maffet, came up strong when it was needed to preserve the victory.  The Eagles Dustin Breakey led all scorers with 4 goals, Alex Montemayor knocked in 3, Ryan Atkinson had 2, and Erik Eckenrode tallied a solo for the winners.

Tonight's final from the Eagle View field:

Cumberland Valley Eagles    10

Warwick Warriors                 8

CV Wins Round II CPSLA PLayoff Game
by J. Rucinsky posted 05/24/2008

The Cumberland Valley Eagles played in their first 2008 CPSLA playoff game, facing off against Conrad Weiser in Round II. For the first few minutes of the first quarter, it seemed as if they were in for a tough night on their home field.  The visiting Conrad Weiser lacrosse team scored the first goal to take a 1-0 lead early.  CV tied the game shortly after, and led at the end of the quarter by a score of 3-2.  From that point on, the Eagles never looked back and held the visitors scoreless throughout most of the remaining 3 quarters.  The game concluded with a running clock with about 7 minutes to go.
All scoring was led by Eagle's senior Dustin Breakey who hit the net for 6 goals.  Also scoring multiple goals were Ryan Atkinson, Billy Beutler, and Alex Montemayor each of whom scored twice.  Eric Eckenrode, Taylor Ford, Nate Nester, Nate Pendleton, Bryce Schafer and Lance Morgan each tallied once to round out the scoring for the red and white.  Scoring for CWHS were Lovenstein, Neiheiser, Antosy, and Elmer.

The final score :

Cumberland Valley Eagles        18

Conrad Weiser  High School       4
